A big welcome to our fantastic new Associate Psychologist, Megan Shochet who commenced at MindSpring Psychology Centre early in August this year.
Megan brings a warm, gentle, compassionate, and thoughtful approach to therapy, which really helps her clients feel comfortable with sharing their thoughts and feelings. Megan works with children, adolescents, and adults, and has experience working across a variety of settings. She provides brief or short-term interventions for those preferring to engage for shorter time periods, and is also able to provide longer-term work for individuals who wish to more extensively explore long-standing emotional or relational patterns.
Megan has great experience working with children, adolescents and adults across a variety of settings. She provides a range of psychological services, including assessment and interventions for individuals struggling with mental health concerns, relationship and family challenges, difficulties with self-worth and identity, trauma recovery, stress and adjustment issues, and cognitive or academic difficulties. Megan uses a range of evidence-based interventions in her work with clients, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Therapy as well as Psychodynamically informed therapy.
Clients’ needs and goals are the primary consideration for Megan when developing a treatment plan using an integrative and collaborative approach. Depending upon clients’ needs, Megan can assist individuals in achieving symptom relief, as well as supporting the development of a deeper understanding of difficulties.
Megan’s training was completed at Queensland University of Technology, where she graduated with distinction from a Master of Psychology (Clinical). Prior to this, Megan obtained a Bachelor of Psychological Science (Hons I) from the University of Queensland. Megan is also undergoing further training in order to obtain specialist endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist. Megan’s previous experience includes working in a range of public health, not-for-profit, and government organisations.
